Skied Parsenn twice. Saturday 22nd was excellent. Yesterday was very warm (forecast for 11 degrees in the vlage) and as the sunnier slopes are quite busy the pistes looked like battlefields by 10. They had the piste bashers out in a futile attempt to bully them back into shape.
Webers cafe opposite Parsenn station very good.

Skied Jakobshorn today. Icy, crumbly pistes with some poorly graded and bashed pistes. Nearly killed my daughter and wife trying to get them down a narrow icy "blue" with a drop off to the side that should have had safety net. Also took a wrong turn due to lack of signage.
I then crashed 3 times trying to get down to the village on the blue #3 which was an icy narrow goat track littered with ruts and pot holes. I have skied blacks that are easier and safer. My daughter wanted to come down it as it is marked "blue" on the piste map but luckily I cajoled her into downloading via gondola.

Poor grading, signage and piste bashing of that sort is dangerous and really pisses me off considering the horrendous lift ticket prices and lack of half day option.
We paid 10CHF on the slopes for the worst "espresso" and hot chocolate ever. Stunning day and views though.

Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know what the skiing is like. Sounds like a bad day on jackobshorn, do you think it would be better with better snow conditions?

Hope you are enjoying your time there though. Less then three weeks till I'll be over. We've booked a sleigh ride to a pub and back, which my wife is looking forward to.

Thanks again for your updates.

Jakobshorn would be excellent in better conditions. There is a ton of skiing around Davos and they got another dump as we left yesterday morning.
Will post a report and some pickiest later. My reservation about Davos is the cost. It would be fine if you are a millionaire and a lot of the people who go go there are but Austria and Italy have just as good skiing for a lot less money.
Have a good trip and let us know your thoughts.

Hi,

If you are concerned about grocery prices then I would recommend a visit to Aldi on your way to the mountains. Their prices are ~30% cheaper than the Migros and Coop alternatives so you can pick up the basics there. Check locations en route online.

As for the skiing, I haven't yet been to Davos/Klosters this season, but generally there is plenty of scope. According to SLF.ch they had around 25-30 cm on the 28th, so hopefully the conditions are better than the report above mentions! Be cautious buying lunches on the mountain, F&B on the mountains in Switzerland quickly add up to more than your lift pass - so if you are watching the $$ be willing to pack some power bars and drinks in a day pack.

Good that you will have a car. Within 30-40 minutes of Klosters you are in range of Lenzerheide and Flims-Laax which are both world class resorts and are worth exploring if you are not happy with the conditions around Davos Klosters. Check J2Ski for conditions.

Have fun, it is a remarkable valley - very beautiful, so even if the skiing is cr*p (which I very much doubt), you can be inspired by the views!

geds.

Very disappointing the village of Klosters, has no atmosphere and the skiing is not all that good, would not go again
