Can vouch for this place, great atmosphere and people from all over the world, having a great time together.

We have skied Austria the first week of March for many years, and have only had problems in the early 1990's - every other time we have managed to ski every day - we love March in the mountains, you get the longer days and sunnier lunch times. Most TO's will now try and get you to decent snow - we have done day trips to glaciers, even when the snow was fine in resort, just to have the opportunity to see a differerent ski area - but hand on heart, we have always had a great time in March - hope you do too!

Oh and if you land at Salzburg and the fields are green and smelling of cow dung - don't be put off - the resorts are a lot higher up!!
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

I would suggest there will be enough snow at that timer of the year this year.
The Kitzsteinhorn glacier above Kaprun would be about a 30 minute drive. Last year it stayed open until June and opened up again in October, so there is a plan B readily on hand. I know for a few Euros you can upgrade the Kaprun / Zell am See ski pass, there may be a reverse reciprocal deal?

Have a great time.

Thanks guys. That has cheered me up in sunny sunny(not) Wales. The reason for not choosing France is we only have a few days and being familiar with this region we can hit the slopes and not have to worry about finding our way around and tbh I really like the Austrians. Thanks for you replies and well wishes. Will let you know how it goes.

Salbaach Jan loads of snow almost too much if you can have such a thing. Unless there's a sudden massive thaw you'll have nothing to worry about Going to St Anton in early March AdvantGe there is if lower slopes poor nearby Lech and especially Zurs always have snow later in the season ...... and the fun us the best anywhere!!!!

You can buy us a beer in the KK then Mary. 12 of us going to St Anton on 3rd March.

St Anton and Lech have an outstanding snow record, Lech a lot more, especially for Austrian standards, so no problem skiing there mid March.

I am hoping to explore Zurs and Zug when we visit the area next week.
