The only problem with boxes is getting the last bit out, you end up breaking open the box and squeezing the bag like a crazed addict.

Ermmmmmmm .......
Snapzzz .......

Some very forthcoming comments recently, are you covering up your end of season blues with the old vino

Think you have a problem now with your empty bottles - just you wait until Little Snapzzz (or Snapzzz Minor as I prefer to call her) is a few years older ....

Mates come round etc etc etc

Should have seen the cans in our recycling after 17yo lout was left alone for the week and I still haven't "persuaded" him to get rid of his empty bottles. Mind you on anything like rubbish, washing up, food provision, clean clothes etc etc etc etc ....

He does have blind faith that some sort of divine being provides all this.

But, at the risk of being controversial, I like a nice rose. The dryer the better for me (can't stand that Zinfandel rubbish they serve all over the place). In fact there is a box of Pink Pinot in the fridge as we speak. I like a drop of squirty pink on a Friday after work. (squirty because that is how the wine comes out of the box - just to reassure you).

I know Tony probably won't think a wine out of a box very up market but for quaffability it's fine, nice and cold from the fridge.

Bring on the book and the sun lounger, I feel a beach holiday coming on.

I love the sound of the first gush from a new box of wine shame it dies to a pathetic trickle as it nears the end.
Boxes are handy and much more discreet to dispose of. I hate putting out my empty bottles for recycling, I'm sure the neighbours count them up!

I can empathise completely

Aha, someone with some taste at last.
I can't do wine out of a box, reminds me too much of some past holidays in Italy......

I am also with you re those horrid American wet lettuce wines, Zinfandels and all that nonsense. Get a decent Grenache, Merlot or Cab Sav rose and you're away. The redder the better for me, but essentially cold and bursting with fruity flavours.

Heres a couple I regularly get, both from Tesco:

Hardys Crest (black label) when its down to £5.29

Roko Chilean Cabernet sauvingon or Merlot when its half price

White wine......now theres a dreadful drink if ever there was one.

Snapzzz - I'm brilliant at emptying wine boxes. Once you've got the bag out of the box, blow into the tap at the bottom so its filled with air, then cut the corner off and drain wine - sometimes get a whole glass out.

Anyway, clearly we all like to do different things once the snow has melted, which is why I keep trying to find another forum to join, but I'm getting bored so keep coming back here.

I'll give anything a go holiday wise, as long as I'm not working then that's a bonus.

I would love to go to the mountains in summer (camping, natch) but the kids would hate it so we'll wait until they're not holidaying with us anymore.

15 sleeps to first camping of the year :D

No comment as yet from snapzzz so I'll cover this one :D

Best white wine I've enjoyed in recent times was a Sauvignon Blanc from the Dog Point Vineyard in New Zealand. Not cheap at circa £14 but very very nice. Tony - treat yourself to a bottle and come back and tell us how you got on....

No thanks. Complete and utter waste of time. I have tried all different types of whites: Pinot, Chenin, hell even some chavvy Chardonnay! I don't even like Chablis. White wine just isn't for me, irrespective of the colour  Give me the pink stuff anyday.

I remember my dad buying bottles of red wine from a supermarket in France in about 1981 or 82. I think he was paying 4 francs a bottle, ie 40p.

The top was sealed with a bit of foil - no cork!

I suspect it was not prime stuff.
