A good decision about the speakers, it is all about being safe on the slopes, and taking away one of your senses with music partly counteracts the point of having a helmet ,,, Bon ski.
I couldn't possibly say .....

Been wearing a helmet for years now. First one, I went all out and got in helmet speakers. I found out I actually missed the sound of snow under my skis and the peace and quite of off-piste skiing so I ended up not using the speakers except on buses and chairlifts. Next couple I haven't bothered with speakers.
I have never understood why some people get self-rightous about the need for all people to wear helmets. As far as I'm concerned in a very much a personal choice.
7 days till I get to don mine again. :D

It's been an annual discussion on our boys' trip the last 6 or 7 years, last year we reckon the balance has shifted to more helmet wearers. We also reckon that means an "I'm alright jack" mentality and speeds have increased, so the odds of being taken out has increased. Two of us have just converted.
So first time with the helmet (in 23 days)...and also first year taking the family (who all will be wearers and helped sway me). I shall miss the fresh air and miss the choice of which woolly hat in the morning.

I agree with all the good reasons for wearing a helmet and wouldn't go without mine now.
I also like the sound of the snow under my skis and I like to hear the snowboarders as they approach too fast behind me so I can get out of the way! I have been used as a convenient brake before!
I couldn't imaging listening to my ipod on the slopes because (confession time) I like to sing as I ski. I find the rythm helps me keep my turns even and it makes me happy.
Am I wierd?

I only starting skiing 18 months ago (at the age of 43) but about to head off for my 4th trip at the beginning of January so obviously bitten by the bug! I kitted myself in one very expensive shopping trip and on the list was a helmet. It seemed to be an automatic common sense choice, no different from mountain biking (which I also enjoy). I might have gone sans helmet in my 20's but not now. In any case it would be hypocritical to expect my children to wear helmets if I didn't follow suit.
slippy slidey snow......me likey!
