Once stayed in chalet in Val D'Isere that was mainly occupied by this 'Godfather' type figure and his 'crime family'. Not very pleasant dinner conversation and this gang weren't really interested in skiing at all; a kind of glorified stag group summed up by one of them who told me Scotland was much better for a skiing holiday because you could go shooting instead of to the slopes!

As I think you probably realise, I was jesting )

To be perfectly honest, you can share a chalet with anyone provided they are interested in skiing, as everyone has something in common come what may.

At least with posh people you might get some sensible conversation. A chalet full of nutters of chavs would be a disaster. I shared a chalet with a group of lads from Leeds and another group of lads from Manchester in Mayrhofen last Feb. I think you can imagine how the conversation went at dinner.

That's a worry!

We stayed in a catered chalet a couple of years ago with a group who really thought they were a cut above all of us because they a) were going touring with their very own guide and b) skied in jester hats

The other couple were from New Orleans and the mismatch between the two groups was a joy to behold....worth every penny for the entertainment.

Food was good too :D

Now that is a cardinal sin when it comes to skiing. Anyone caught in a jester hat should be shot immediately. Or at least have their lift pass taken off them.
Fancy dress is different, but skiing in ski gear with the hat of a total dork......please, No.
