Going back to earlier comments, I am going with Flexicover, have used them in the past. Pre existing medical cover is very low and they cover for travel delays preventing you catching your flight. Some policies only cover public transport breakdowns, this one is if your own car breaks down on the way to the airport.
I also went through confused.com first, as when I went straight to the Flexicover site the quote was almost double. .

In the event of a claim, insurers often ask for proof of travel arrangements, flights/ferries etc. These days, it's hard not to leave an audit trail when travelling.
Direct Travel have cut their annual skiers policy cover from 17 days per trip, to 17 days per policy year.
Hmmm, i see how that would be easy for the one long trip but...... How about it i have 17 days in one trip then later in the season go for another week? Surely we could just not mention the first trip ?
Very tempting for sure ) Have you tried boarding a plane in the last few years though? The airlines/ferries now give details about us all to the Gov't. Details of your travel patterns will be on a database somewhere, probably with your credit card spends and your phone records
Is there a strange car parked across the road...no don't open the curtains it will look too obvious.......

S-a-h, I looked at Flexicover, but they seem to exclude search and rescue costs for skiers in the General Exclusions on their Annual Multi Trip. The idea of having to pay up front for a blood wagon ride would not suit me, nor would having no cover, if I went missing.
Are their other policies on offer from them I should look at?

It may be dumb question but how would an insurance company know how many days skiing you've had in a year?
If you have 3 weeks continuously in a resort or a season it's clear cut but what if you have a week in one place and some in another it must be hard to polce how many days you had on the snow. Even if you've bought a season pass - how many days did you ski for?
Pretty academic as I struggle to wangle a second week let alone 3 or more to exceed the limits on my Direct Travel policy. I can but dream.....

I have renewed with Direct Travel again this year - been with them for ages, never made a claim (!!) but they have always offered what I need at a comptetitive price, including some very odd cover such as driving across Africa (unescorted).
When I got my renewal docs through I was perplexed, everything seemed to have changed but I phoned and had a chat.
What they have done is to break down their policies so that customers pay for what they need.
I only need the standard policy now (always had premium before) and then an extra for skiing (£25 for two) and they then added a bit for a medical condition (£17) .....
All came out at about £7 more than last year on an annual multi-trip.
I reckon their approach is a good one, especially for experienced travellers who know what they want. They seem to be trying to taylor things to individuals rather than one size fits all.
On the 17 days in total rather than 17 days per trip - I was told I could add extra skiing cover if I needed to.

Old Andy, that's quite interesting, thanks  I may give them a call and ask for a price on extra ski days.
