I'm off to the dry ski slope tonight for a couple of hours...hoping that the step machine regime will result in my legs not burning so much this week.

I will continue, I am determined but I would have thought I'd be at least a pound lighter.

Fat turns to muscle when you exercise which is heavier, so you have probably lost weight but gained muscle.
The only real way to lose weight is to diet.

No, I think you'll find that it's because when muscles are used for exercise or anything they must be replenished with oxygen, nutrients, etc. They also produce waste products that need to be taken away from the cells. Blood is the transport system for all of these things so the harder your muscles are worked the quicker they burn through nutrients and produce waste meaning that the blood must flow faster to provide all of this, the only way for blood to flow faster is for you heart to beat faster. :mrgreen:
