Came back from France over the weekend...and we got stopped by the Gendarmes...and we got asked for our log book. It was just a routine stop, but we were relieved to have all the paperwork.
So, thanks J2!
(I know the info's available on motoring websites, but this one is much more interesting!)

don't forget to keep your hi-viz(multiplied by the number of people in the car)in the car with you and not in the boot, if you have to get out of the car to retrieve it you may get a fine!!!
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

well this is a new one on me as well drive abroad two or three times a year and never taken mine. In future i will.
