I've no idea what you would put in your automobiles, but I put petrol in my motor car!

We have just sold a Toyota Diesel Hilux Surf too expensive to run. But my OH had looked into buying a conversion kit to run it on veg oil. Lots of surf owners do this, but he found out you had to inform customs and excise and the amount they would charge us for the privilege was more expensive than the diesel.
I'm a laydee

Expanding the cost issue into Europe, last time I drove out to Austria, 2006, there was an inverse ratio between the miles travelled from the UK, and the cost of petrol. Every country passed through had cheaper prices. Austria cost around 75% of UK price.

That was not true last season, where the cost was at parity with the UK.

Diesel does remain cheaper, but the gap has narrowed.

Recall on our 1997 trip to Breckenridge, gas was around 1$/gall. US gallon is smaller than UK Gallon.

As opposed to puting petrol in a "non-motor" car

It is funny the little differences we have. We usually say "gas stations" but they are occasionally referred to as "petrol" or "petroleum stations" over here also. We usually just say "car", occasionally "Automobile", but "Motor Car" is a term used a long time ago when you needed to mention the fact that it has a motor as opposed to being pulled by a horse or something.

20% smaller. The US pint is 16oz instead of 20oz.

It's also common in the UK to refer to a car as a motor, as in "I gotta new motor Dell Boy".

No one mention Reliant Robins please. That would be too hard to explain to Brad

At it's highest around my place it was $4.25 and the today I got it for 2.43. I haven't seen it that cheap since my (ironically) last trip to Breck

What are the average prices in Germany/Austria?
Uh oh, I think I broke'd the lift

Well it didn't take too long for my area to get to under $2.50/gal. I filled up for $2.49/gal yesterday and it has actually been that low for a few days now, thats less than 2 weeks since it went below $3. :D Now I am optimistic about seeing sub $2/gal :D :D :D
