Kitzbuhel would be my suggestion too.very nice runs, the most wonderful chalets up on the pists and a beautiful village.enjoy.

You'll enjoy it, assuming your strongish intermediates. Runs there tend to be on the steeper side but there's a lot t go at. There's plenty of threads on here about the place if you search.
Enjoy
No for sure. Austria I found (V Andorra/Bulgaria/Whistler)is more challanging to this Intermediate anyway. Some Reds in Austria would deffo be Black elsewhere. -)

Thanks again folks. In the end we went for Mayrhofen the spa/pool was the clincher for my wife and the skiing looks pretty good as well :)

Hi Tony,
I'd say we are certainly intermediates though I'm not sure how 'strong' we are :)
After a couple of hols in Andorra, our last trip was to the Portes du Soleil where we clocked up loads of k's on reds and blues on piste. Are the piste grades comparable from place to place? It'll be good to go somewhere that will push us that little bit :)
Cheers, Mark.

Would agree with the last comment about Reds in Austria. The problem with Austrian piste grades (especially blues) is that although they might qualify on the distance/height formaula there will often be some steep bits. At the start of the day in sunshine when its been freshly bashed its no problem for a good novice/low intermediate but by the end of the day the steep bits are all moguls and can be daunting for some - especially on tired legs trying to ski back down into the resort. I dont know if this is the case in Mayrhohen cos Ive not skied there - maybe someone else can comment?

I would look at Kichberg or Westendorf, plenty of cruising around those areas and can get to Kitzbuhl from either of these 2 bases or even over to Soll

rocksy , i find the red runs down to the penken gondala easier than the runs down into the horberg bowl. so red 1 , 6 and 11 are`nt too bad . 6 has a short steeper bit at the bottom . so dont be put off as you are going up , it`s not bad if you go steady and it give you a bit of speed for the flat run to the chairlift/bar.
3 and 5 are a bit steeper in places . 7 and 27 from the top of the horberg are great , just be careful on 7 as it crosses black 17 and blue 7 a couple of times. dont do what i did and turn onto the black .
