I'm with bandit - Andorra is a great destination for a second week skier. (That's where I went for my second week on the snow)
I would suggest Soldeu/El Tarter/Pas De La Casa in the Grand Vallira - Andorra linked these resorts together quite well to create a large ski area. (Rather than Arinsal which is quite small) The Gran Vallira has lots of blues to practice your technique on & the ski school is highly regarded. The pistes tend to be well groomed - which is a boon in your early stages - a ploughed up piste may be challenging but isn't fun for an inexperienced skier.
As your confidence grows there are enough more difficult pistes to test you as well as keep more experienced skiers happy.

The pistes are well signposted & essentially they all drop into the same valley so if you get lost or knackered you just get the bus that runs up & down the valley back to where you are staying.

But as for sore leg muscles - I'm afraid that's what happens if you ski without doing an exercise program before you go! Even after you learn to do perfect parallel turns your legs will still ache unless you're fit enough - especially after long days in the powder and on the steep runs.

Ally
Ally, I hardly do any training before skiing, and I am not particularly fit, and my legs do not give me a single bit of grief.
However my buddy Stewart Dowling hardly does any skiing in comparison and yet his legs are in agony. This simply leads me to the conclusion that beginner skiers legs hurt because their position is not correct and they are putting their legs under more pressure as a result.
I don't know about "perfect parallels" but my skiing is pretty much ok, and I don't get this pain you speak of, so whilst I am sure that if you get really fit it would make a difference, for a 1/2/3 week a season skier, you really do not need to be some kind of machine.

Skiing in powder on the steeps is, however, a different matter altogether.

Tony,
If you feel no pain in your legs during a days ski-ing you are either Superman or staying in your comfort zone. I suspect the latter :!:

I agree with the pro-Andorra lobby - Soldeu is a great place for lower intermediates and good fun too!!

lol whats with the teeth.

Legs wernt to bad. it was jus the trying to slow down on the steap parts.
We took on the blue runs on our own because on the last day our instructor never turned up and we didnt want to go home without trying one.
The lessons i had where good but there was a couple of people who just couldnt ski at all, which i think put the rest of the class back because the instructor was always with them.

I think next time i would like to learn abit more skiing before i go away.

Sm4sh,
I would expect there to be lots of cheap deals for the end of March this year - here's one:

http://www.igluski.com/meribel-mottaret/laitelet-i_p341?holidayid=27933074

Catered chalet, based on 2 sharing, in Meribel, reduced from £589 to £308 26th March. And Meribel is fine for skiers with one week's experience :D

Are you going to be able to get away for another trip this season?

I've used both igluski and ski solutions. Good deals and service from both these "travel agents" that specialise in skiing hols.
They seem to get hold of lots of offers.
