To those of you have done it, the Worldcup run down the Lauberhorn is a little bit special isn't it?? On Christmas Eve I did the bottom section a couple of times, on Christmas Day I did the top section and the Slalom corse at the bottom. Today I did the whole thing top to bottom at speed in beautiful conditions. I have never done a pisted run with such variety. Speedy red sections good for carving, frighteningly tight turns with very steep drops, jumps, a tunnel and some very tough camber. The most fun I have had on piste this season, or any other for that matter. Simply magnificent.
I have been smiling all day!!!

Wow!! You crazy fool!! I've watched the race at various locations including just by the combined downhill start gate. The jump there is insane. I'm surprised the course was open given that race day isn't too far away. Canadian Corner that follows is a very tight right hander with the camber throwing you down the hill.
Last year, I went up to the slalom start gate and got the heebie geebies just looking down the pitch.
Maybe one day if I keep practising I'll inch my way down it.
Are you going to the race this year?? I was thinking about it but reckon accomodation will be impossible.
15th - 17th January.

We were there for it in 2007. We never had any difficulty with accommodation. I think the majority of spectators were coming up from lauterbrunnen rather than staying in Wengen.
As ski race fans we loved it although we never got to ski the course at all.

TJ (my Son) is racing the LauberHorn Downhill in the Europa Cup race (The 'B' tour as Nick Fellows calls it) on 6-9 Jan.
He can give you a report of how it is to ski it at full race speed. He can't wait to do it!!
