We were gutted (not) to get to Innsbruck and find we'd been allocated a place in Kitzbuhel. It got better as we then had to go most of the way by taxi and found ourselves in the Hotel Strasshofer on the main street of Kitzbuhel. People approaching by coach had to get off and walk 5 mins through the town, but we got dropped off at the door. Hotel was fairly basic but fine. Skiing was superb with the only problem being poor visibility at times due to low cloud and snow. Nice fresh powder most days. Only complaint about Kitzbuhel was that they should make it more obvious that Blue 27 never gets pisted. It ranged from knee deep powder (OK) to sheet ice through boulder studded slopes! More difficult than any of the black runs for sure, as the scars on our skis will testify.

Our 4 year old loved it - ski school included a trip down the Streif on day 1 - and couldn't wait to go off with Benjamin every morning.!

Would we do it again? At £284 pp - who wouldn't. The travel agent from London staying in the same hotel was gutted when she found out!!!!

Interesting - I'll have to look at those.

I was looking at the square deal for one company (can't remember who it was now) who based the cost on 5 and thereofore charged under-occupancy accordingly. Underneath it said rooms would be based on the actual numbers in party regardless of under-occupancy charges paid.

I wouldn't give them my business out of principal.

Only problem with it is booking ski hire, lessons etc. in advance?!
Bon. Allez!

Sounds like you got lucky there Dr Death. On the flip side, you could have been bussed to Oberau.
These square deals are great value, but if you end up somewhere rubbish, you cant really complain.

Summer or winter, Kitz is more than fine.
It's only a slope.

Hey Tony, dont forget Aufach lift is only 5 minutes bus ride from Oberau so even that would not have been a disaster. I go taxied most of the way from Salzburg to Oberau (bus to Sol and taxi rest of the way) for £204 half bord last month and its £2.90 a pint in oberau, £15 in Kitbuhel, LOL.
A group of Irish lads that got on our coach in Kitz had spent £2000 each in a week, they were gutted.

True, I found Auffach had some good skiing for that area.

Just looked at the Hotel Strasshoffer and last week (Feb 7th) was £651.

Result.
