I think we will all be finding a big difference on food and drink prices this year in Europe.

Beer between 5 and 9 euros a half litre.
Lunch, about 9 euros for soup up to about 16 for something a bit more substantial.
Basicly a bit scarey!

Cos I am off to Finland first time self catering, have been studying the Ruka web site. Our plan was just to cook breakfast and eat out most of the time. On their site they list menus and prices for all their restaurants.............really scary prices. I guess it will be lots of pasta from supermarket.

Hi Russco, I live in Plagne 1800 at the moment. There is only about 3/4 bars/restaurants in 1800. The main spot being 'La Mine' which gets quite lively, especially at this time of year. You would be paying 5.70 for half a litre and 5-6 euros for bottle beers. As I say there is only a couple of places to eat at 1800 but you should expect to pay anything from 8 - 15 euros for a main meal. Mamma Mia is a good pizza place at 1800 which is next to the Spar. However, you can obviously go up to Plagne centre aswell, free bus every 30 mins. There are plenty of places to eat up there!!

The best place to drink in Plagne is Scotty's bar. You get a pint for 3.60!! And is very lively with live music on most days.

Anyway, if you wanna know anything else let me know!! )

is it right to think that the lesser known or used resorts such as chamrousse (2weeks 4days to go)will be a little cheaper ,because alpe d huez was expensive and that was 4 yrs ago,
