beer and food prices

I paid 13€ for burger and chips in the Courchevel mountains last season. It was the best burger I've ever eaten to be fair, blue cheese etc. but that is £13 this year.....ouch.

I'm off to Les Arcs/ La Plagne Saturday week and I'm leaving it as late as possible to top up my stash of euros. As per previous posts my hip flask will be topped up (with calvados) for the economy drive.....

I am off on the 25th.. holding out also. Thank the lord for Chalet board...

And thats what we all should be doing finding a cheaper answer, I'm sorry but I would not pay 13 euro for a burger let alone 13 pounds, the same as I would not pay 600 euro for a pair of skis you pay what you can afford.
This year I shall eat out at lunch time but I shall cook more in the chalet in the evenings, light the fire,open a bottle of wine, now come on were British and we shall not be ripped off any more, unfortunately it's taken the credit crunch for us to realize it. :wink:

I quite often carry sandwiches to eat at lunchtime. It's not as simple as saving money, I have a couple of food allergies, so I find it quite useful to know exactly what I'm eating. Some days I can't be fussed to make them though. Definitely a moneysaver if you're not a big eater )

I guess my point is Bandit, I have never paid six quid for a beer and never will, I would normally eat a light lunch, sometimes bread, ham and cheese, sometimes a crepe so lunch for me has never been over the top. An evening favorite of mine Tarteflette would normally cost around 13 euro in the restaurants, the price increase this year to last due to the poor exchange rate would be three pounds. For me not the end of the world mainly because I choose to ski in a relatively cheap area, now I use that term "Cheap" very loosely.
What hit me more was the fuel prices driving down to Italy from the UK last summer, so my drive to LGB in a couple of weeks time should seem a lot cheaper. :lol:
