I stepped outside this evening and felt it. Something in the air that says "the countdown has begun". For me it's a change in temp and humidity. To feel cool for the first time in nearly three months. To be able to open the windows at night and even feel the need for covers in bed. The knowledge that soon, you'll be able to decide how warm you want to feel by what layers you wear, rather than how far you can afford to turn down the air conditioning. Within a few weeks the leaves will start turning in the North of the State and getting out to exercise in the evening will not be such a chore.
BTW
tino-11 picked the least humid few days days this summer to be in the midwest. Good timing tino.

Yes I started off with shorts and T shirt, just 'cos its summer bank holiday, that did,nt last long. Now its jumper and jeans. Was going out for a long walk along the beach, its pouring with rain again, so I cant be bothered. Over the last two days leaves are falling off the trees, I think of it as Autumn already.
I know waht you mean, at 5.30am this morning I could only manage 10 mins in the sea

Trencher, I think over in the UK, we have had such a weird summer, that we won't necessarily feel a change. It's August Bank Holiday today, and I'm wearing a fleece in the house..... with a T shirt underneath.....and long trousers. Not had to water the garden this summer, and my 2x220 litre garden water butts are full up. The leaves are already falling from the trees. The overly cheerful weather woman on TV yesterday announced highs of 18c  Possibly the worst aspect of this summer is the grey skies. So it would seem that this side of the pond we will slip into an autumn, which will look remarkably like summer.

The lochs getting a lot colder now-to the point where you can't swim for more than about 10 minutes without getting cold. And turning blue.
