When in April? You need to be high up Kaprun, Stubai, HinterTux are all glaziers'I would have to recommend
Mayhrhofen again is low down, the First week in April is Snowbombing Party where if you like Ibiza with Snow thats the place to go. I have mates staying in MH till 14 April.Theyll be skiing every day.
Soll unfortunetly is quite low down I cant comment on Alpbach however St Anton looks a good bet theres still, 4.5Metres of snow there.
Austria is a good choice and I would recommend it to all beginners

What about Obergurgl/Hochgurgl or Lech, all of which are pretty high?

Good idea acarr, we were in Obergurgl/Hochgurgl in April 2 years ago and the lifts closed early due to the snowing! You need to be high up; St Anton, Lech, Zurs, Ischgl, Sölden and the gurgls.
