matt23 wrote:Well guys after the amazing response to my last thread i thought i would see if anyone out that had an insight into the conditions on the other parts of the chamonix valley away from the grand montets. i fly to chamonix on saturday for 4 days skiing with a friend of mine. we are really pleased after the earlier conditions that the resort is open at all but as there now seems to have been a large amount of snow and of which is still falling does anyone know if the full opeing will be going ahead as planned for saaturday 17th . currently there are just 3 runs open on the grand montets but looking at the webcams letour and flegere seem to have comparable snow depths.
Thank you in advance matt
Yes i am very keen. as for being relaxed i am very. as i said in the title post the websites have all said and always said full opening on the 17th but that doesnt really mean a lot as we have seen with so many other regions delaying there opening times. wondering if there was someone local to chamonix who could enlighten the situation.

can you shed any light on the conditions with the storm thats heading through chamonix . read that they are closing certain parts due to really high winds with some reaching 123kph on friday afternoon understandable i guess.... looks as if the storm will pass by friday night and the winds start to drop agsin but only to around 25-30kph . in your opinion whats the safe limit they would open the lifts ? have heard chamox suffers from bad windconditions and this can cause them to shut some areas. Mainly the grand montets . fingers are crossed for some of the tree lined protected runs to be open ...... please... only got 3 days and plan on making the most of it....
