and don't discount the trains:

Getting to Kufstein station is pretty easy from Munich Airport. Then a bus or taxi to Ellmau.
(or to Wörgl is also a possible)

Thanks for that - enjoy your skiing break - or are you there for the winter? I was thinking of Ellmau too - just haven't heard back from them, so hoping it's a real offer!

If it were me, I would go with Ellmau. This is part of the Skiwelt area which is huge with lots of variety in the skiing. Altitude should not be a problem in February. As it is mid-term for most countries, this will be a peak week and likely to be very busy. However, given the scale of the skiwelt, it is possible to get away from the crowds by heading out to the marginal areas - most people stick to the central slopes.

If you want ski school, it might be worth getting onto that immediately. Options might be limited if you leave it late.

Enjoy - its a great area.

Ellmau's a nice little town with a bit of apres and a great way to access the SkiWelt

Honestly you will need to take whatever you can find- My own apartments - I have 8 - have been booked up since last March. I suggest you get on Booking . Com and see what you can find anywhere - to be honest many people don't bother even loading up availability in any of February as its not just UK schools on holiday , but Berlin, Vienna the whole of Holland , also other areas of Austria. Its not worth it as loosing so much commission is unnecessary when filling up is not a problem .Each resort has a tourist office where there is a search option to look for accommodation - but it is a long process. I think looking fr snow is the least of your problems but good luck

If you try the resort websites, search for accommodation offers and you can find some availability. I have always found this the best option. Good luck.

Hi - I've booked in Westendorf - probably not the 'best' place, but price was good and THERE REALLY WASN'T MUCH CHOICE. I was beginning to panic!! It gets good reviews on tripadvisor, so probably great. I would have liked something a little closer to centre. I'm out by train station, but it's grand. Now, where to ski. I have booked for my son - he's 16 and pretty good, but is on a plateau, needs to move to next step - a 2 hour lesson for the Tuesday! Any suggestions on where to ski - we can ski anything. but is there a place to go to get away from crowds...….thanks for all the input.

You have a great little ski area at Westendorf. I'm guessing it'll be quieter than the main ski welt area. No doubt Munich-Johnny will be along with a more informed reply later. Enjoy the skiing
