Best hi res piste map is on Skistar. There are a lot of chairs considering its Scandanavia! There are t's and buttons of course, but a lot of chair lifts. Link at https://www.skistar.com/en/Are/About-Are/Weather-lifts-and-snow/#

We booked the car through Auto Europe and its with Budget. We looked at flights to Trondheim and Ostersund but found car hire and flights were much cheaper via Stockholm, so looking forward to a 400 mile drive!

Accommodation wise, we found that approaching the providers directly was much cheaper than booking anywhere else. Really pleased with the deal we've got considering its half term!

Dan55, sounds good. If you've not driven in Scandinavia before, then the drive will probably feel slow compared to the UK, but more relaxed. Good thing about Stockholm is that you'll have a good choice with flights. Flying into Trondheim it was one flight a day. Gets in a bit late too!

Dan - thanks I'll take a look at the piste map.

Dobby - if we go for it, we'll fly from Humberside. Lands in Trondheim at 12.25pm which hopefully means a drive in daylight. It's £250 cheaper to fly out Sunday, fly back Monday so I think a night in Trondheim at the end sounds good.

Starting to think we might opt for Are. Prices are excellent considering it's half term and flying from our local airport is frankly brilliant. We are usually home within 45 mins of landing.

slippy slidey snow......me likey!

Dan, Bedrock - if you fancy meeting up in Are for an overpriced beer, just PM me. Cheers. Dobby

Sounds good to me :) we're at the Fjallgarden Hotel. Sweden will feel like Wetherspoons if you're used to Norway!

Dan. Hope it's not quite like my local 'Spoons. Looked online at beer prices and they are cheaper than Norway. Might even have more than one drink out this year!

Dobby, Swedes like a party, but I think that's the case everywhere in Scandanavia! Bit more classy than 'Spoons! Not sure if Norway is the same, but you can only buy alcohol from Government shops called Systembolaget.
