That ACL injury visits many skiers!

Learn about it before it visits you by reading and preparing for it!
Visit this site for up to date info: http://www.orthosupersite.com/view.asp?rID=31358

Also look around various sites before it happens to you!

If you really are up to date, you will no doubt know that a recent study (September 2008) has foind that orthro-scopy knee surgery DOES NOT improve condition! Many other factors play into recovery mode!

I think that's only for osteoarthritis, not injuries.

Something of an exaggeration, the actual incidence is around 2200 MDBI and has been falling for some time.

MDBI - mean days between injury [for us jargon challenged types  ]

Thats good odds by the way

 yes, sorry, I should have explained that.

It's pretty good odds, effectively it means you're exceptionally unlikely to have an ACL injury. Incidence in women is slightly higher, I can't recall immediately but the figure of 8% higher rings a bell.

*sighs* I was at my local dojo working with my Aikido class (actually more like extended family) and we were practicing rolling and I popped out/tweaked my mcl again. Yes of course my Achilles heel. Right now it's at that *makes a whip noise* yee haw stage, it's more sensitive then a cracked tooth. I want to do the rehab right this time. Outside of the whole icing and not break dancing on it. I can bear weight on it, its just bites if I step the wrong way. Any suggestions? :(
Uh oh, I think I broke'd the lift

I have received orthroscopy treatment, and it certainly improved my knee condition.

Headline from the same Ortho Supersite:

AAOS offers guidelines for avoiding cheerleading injuries

Think I'll stick to skiing, much safer. )
