*Sob* This brought a tear to my eye. I loved what I saw of La Plagne and will be going back at some point, I never even made it to the tunnel! Or Les Arcs. But from what I did see, it was lovely, despite the concrete jungles, the area and the snow was fantastic and got better after I'd injured myself.

Thanks for the overview SS.

Great review Smartski.
We were in La Plagne at the beginning of February and although the Glacier was closed for the week due to heavy snowfall and wind we didn't really ski the same pistes twice except to get back to our hotel in Plagne-Soleil. Yes, the long Mont Blanc blue is great and it's a similar situation going down to Montalbert where you can stick to the gentle blues or duck in and out of the red pistes as you wish. We found the tree-lined pistes below La Plagne super for times when it was snowing heavily and visibility was low.
We had to wait until our last day to go over to Champagny when we had perfect sunny day and powder snow to ski the red graded piste Mont de la Guerre from the top of the Verdons Nord lift. It's a must for that away from it all feeling and one of our favourite runs of the week.

"Mont de la Guerre" Was not open when we were there...therefore...I must go back again next year. 8)

Sorry to hear you got injured, I didn't hear what happened, but hopefully you'll get straight back on that horse next year.

We returned from a ski holiday in La Plagne last Saturday. We had a fabulous time :D Snow was fantastic, it snowed on 3 days, so plenty of powder all the way down to Montalbert and Montchavin :!: The area is perfect for early intermediates. My OH has improved her skiing and confidence in La Plagne more that anywhere else before. Plenty of cosy, friendly and reasonably priced mountain restaurants. Much better in this respect than 3V. Even the slightly longer lift queues than we are used to, due to French holidays, did not spoil what was a fantastic week of skiing! Lovely views of Mont Blanc range from the pistes. Varied apres ski scene. Highly recommended :!:

Yet another area to add to that ever-growing list I'm writing... Life is not gonna be long enough I think, to get to them all !

Just to make sure you make it put La Plagne at the top of the list
