So are you suggesting its only British that require ski hosting ?

I think this is a very good point Brooksy

I reckon that if the ESF made ski hosting much cheaper (which they could do if they included it as part of the training for their instructors) then probably several nationalities (including the French themselves) would opt for it. And I think the trainee instructors would benefit from engaging with clients in a social way over lunch etc. during the day. It would certainly improve their foreign language skills :)

Mountain Addiction, on your website http://www.mountainaddiction.co.uk/ you state that a day's ski hosting is included in the price of the holiday. How did you get the notion that you were doing this for free? All the 'free' services you provide aren't free at all; they're included in the price.

Someone who doesn't want the hosting doesn't pay any less. It's a service we provide for free. There are lots of things 'included' in the price, such as meals, wine, etc, but if someone doesn't want them, they don't pay less. And as we aren't receiving any form of remuneration for the service which we volunteer we aren't breaking the law...

aaannnnndddd.... it says it's Free... we suggest that our service is available to those who wish to use it. We do not employ the services of a Ski Host or that of any one else. ergo... it's FREE...

and seeing as I don't suggest that breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner is free you'd have to pay for them too... but if you don't want it you don't pay any less... so it's up to you... either way we're not employed as Ski hosts.

There should be a simple solution - licence the guides.
- That soundslike sensible idea to me. I can understand where the authoritiesare coming from, surely there is a better solution than banning it altogether. I think they will lose quite a lot a visitors this way.
Last night I shot an elephant in my pyjamas. How he got in my pyjamas i'll never know.
