Hi,
We are planning a trip to France, Xmas 2012 and are looking for a place that has the following;
Traditional french village atmosphere
Suitable for wife who shops and doesn't ski
5 and 8 year old kids
More french skiers rather than tourists
The skiing is a side bonus to a white christmas and learning french

Megeve? But no-tourists requirement is hard to satisfy particularly at Christmas, many French skiers are also tourists having come from various places in the country..

Another vote for Megeve. Very pretty village centre, and lots to do off the slopes.

Thanks for tips...what about a small place near Megeve called les Contamines?
