I wouldn't recommend Borovets that late in the season. Snow record isn't great.

last week's snow was adequate in Sauze. The good news for you AdrianDavenport is that it won't stop falling right now. Just as we were leaving. The conditions were great Friday. Foggy but great snow Saturday, and it's still falling.
For the best aperitvo, I recommend the bar at the bottom of the Clotes lift. The staff there don't speak much English but they are extremely friendly. Kept bringing out plates, which just got better and better. We were even given a bottle of wine to take home one afternoon. Sauze seems to be much quieter than when we've been in the past but that may be the week we chose. Rowdy it most definitely wasn't. |

I assume all UK airport security points adhere to the same laws/guidelines. Speaking to the airport before I flew last year they said ski boots were allowed through security.
Security states one bag only, that can fit through the scanner. Not how heavy it can be. Weight and size restrictions (below scanner size) are put in place by the airlines. These are stated on their 'terms and conditions' pages. Past this it seems like you're dealing with the whim of the airline's instructions to the check in agents that day. I'd like to see how someone challenging the boot restriction, where they fitted into scanner size and were below cabin baggage weight limits, got on. A written communication. The airlines are screwing us every way they can and it seems to tale a lot of loud complaints before anything actually changes. |

I have no problem with someone who cannot fit into 1 seat having to pay for 2. Why should I have my seat encroached by someone who can't fit?
I heard of a case years ago where someone suffered this and developed DVT. I can't remember the specifics but the airline refused to move her as the flight was full. |

I can see the point of a large person having a much greater effect on the weight of the aircraft. However a tall person cannot help weighing more than I (a short person) do. It is unfair to single someone out because they are tall. Then you're onto whether someone can help being fat. Do we calculate a person's BMI at the check in desk?

I think the difference is that in UK airports the airline uses its own check in staff. So have a greater level of control. I find the check in staff at European resorts are usually agency staff who would rather have an easy life.
As for Turin airport, if you want the check in staff to be efficient, pray and make sacrifices for at least a week beforehand. I hate that airport :( |

Not allowing boots as hand luggage is not a new phenomenon for me. I've had to repack in the check in queue and that was a few years ago.
I've heard the same from many airlines including Easyjet. usually blaming 'security' for not allowing it. If not security the weight allowance for cabin bags. The problem is, whatever you've read on their terms and conditions you have to abide by what the check in desk tell you if you want to board. As security don't seem to have a problem it seems like the airlines are using it as away to make extra cash. Now there's a surprise! The only way I can see you getting anywhere is to challenge the airline, with evidence of security procedure, upon your return. |
