You will have a great time in Sauze, its a favourite place of mine. Some great bars, and I am sure you will spend a lot of time in Paddy McGintys. If you do, say HI to H for me, shes great.
Ghost Bar has a happy hour too and has a good atmosphere.
I stayed in Hotel Sauze in 2008. To say its basic is being kind. The food is ok though. Rooms are bigger than the French apartment blocks of Flaine, Val Thorens etc, but the light switches are hanging off the walls, you can hear everything down the corridor and stairwell when people come back late at night, and the showers spray everywhere except on your body!
BUT its right off the bottom of the run into town, assuming the snow ius good enough for that to be open of course, so its in a great spot, and as long as you get enough beer down you to sleep soundly, you should be fine.
Seriously, Sauze is a great place, always somewhere lively to go, and late bars and clubs if thats what you want too. But you can chill out in contemporary bars and realxed places too.
Trust me, you'll certainly have a good craic. And the skiing is lovely and cruisy too, but make sure you head over to Sestriere on the link for a couple of days too.
Enjoy.

Trying Sauze for the first time in January after being a regular to Passo and Bordi. Would be interested in some fresh updates on lively after ski bars and mountain lunch stops.

We're in Sauze in January for the third time. Getting excited now :-)
I agree with Tony, you'll have a great time Adrian. Sauze is very sociable. You're bound to meet up with fellow minded skiers.

Awww looks like we'll miss you all, 6 of us have just booked for 3oth Jan.
Never been before but can't wait all the reviews seem good!
If anyones there at the same time let us know - mixed ages, 4 skiers and 2 boarders and intermediates with one beginner (who'll probably be teaching us all a thing or two by the end if the week)!!!

Can't remember any stand out lunch stops, sorry. You could try asking on the Sauze Online forum. It's just starting to get posts again for the winter. http://www.sauzeonline.com/forum/
I'm not a fan of Paddy's, I prefer Ghost bar myself. Paddy's iscan't be beaten for lively though. Their constant canvassing ensures they're definitely the busiest.
For an evening meal we like del Falco for traditional fare. The place opposite Paddy's (can't remember the name), a wine bar/creperie also has a more extensive menu and is a favourite of ours.

MMMmmm although I love Italy the one thing that has always put me off visiting sauze is it's poor snow record, I like to have some snow in resort as well as on the piste.
