Wotcha Nell, how's the knee doing?

Hello *waving*

Knee is good, glad it's done, means there's a chance of some skiing late season next winter :)

Got a fair bit of rehab to do but I'll get there!

I'm now 11 days post op and had the full acl reconstruction using ham string graft. So far so good and feel like I'm actually recovering now.

I'm organising a wheelchair for Glastonbury (to avoid too much walking) and will stick to the main paths rather than cutting through any mud I may come across, which is possible.

It does worry me, but I'm just going to have a different festival this year. No stage diving for me.

Had the same problem which means arthroscopy to remove and then delay of reconstruction of about 6 weeks more which starts to make next season look tight. That was not supposed to depress, but seems you will be in v similar position to myself last year and I only got in 3 downhill runs, basically surgery mid June sucks. However if you have family/friends who ski then I would not cancel any planned trips. Skinning up is great rehab and very enjoyable way to spend a few hrs and earn your vin chaud or hot chocolate. In that sense I still got in almost 3 weeks of skiing (sun, snow, aches but no lift lines or lift pass).

It does sound vey similar. I'm going in for an urgent arthroscopy in the next two weeks, they may do the reconstruction at the same time, I won't know until they've gone in there. At the moment I'm worried about my ability to get about at Glasonbury festival next month! I've resigned myself to either no skiing or limited skiing next winter, I'll go by what consultant says.

How was your recovery after the reconstruction? In particular ambling around a muddy field 4 weeks post op?

I'm going to have to stop these hospital visits, every time I go they tell me something worse. I want good news!

I got a letter the other day from my consultant confirming what was discussed at my last appointment; it had additional information in it about the problem with my knee not straightening. If it isn't straight in the next week, then he's bringing forward the surgery (of which I will no longer have a choice about) because this then confirms that there is 'ACL stump entrapment'. Sounds lovely.

I saw the physio today who did a fabulous job of getting my leg from 16 degrees to 6 degrees in about 20 minutes, obviously this is a HUGE improvement, but she's also convinced that there is something stopping it going any further. Not so fabulous.

So in a week from now, I will know either way, I've got everything crossed that I can get my leg straight in the next week and there's nothing untoward stuck in my knee joint, because quite frankly it's going to screw up my whole summer.

I've been doing everything I can and more with regards to my exercises, I'm on the static bike every night for 20 minutes (or until my knee starts crunching), so I'm really going to be pushing myself this next week, and thinking positively :)

I'm still processing all the information I've been reading/hearing. If I can 'get away' with not having it then great, but if my consultant advises me to have it then I probably will.

At the moment I'm seeing the physio once a week and getting 'surgery fit' doing at home exercises, which is basically getting my leg back to full ROM, straight and strong. Although not so much on the strong until its straight.

I just can't believe that such a ridiculous fall has done this to me!

And they don't repair on then own either I guess? Hence the restructure?
It's all gone rather quiet......
