J2Ski Holiday 2014

We may or may not still come, obviously I'm still post op and doing Physio, Mr Nelly wants to ski next winter, I don't know if I can so this might be an option so he has ski buddies and I can just eat and drink.

Will discuss.

You'll be fine by then! Think positive.

OK :)

We've been discussing a nice little trip back to Niederau as its cheap and cheerful, even if I only do a bit of skiing, it's better than nothing.

We'll see. Still early days (currently waiting to see consultant at hospital for 6 week check up).

Diary of a knee injury

The wheelchair we hired at Glastonbury was a bog standard chair, nothing special about it. It was ideal for what we wanted though, I did a fair bit of walking as well which has strengthened by leg and it feels pretty good considering.

I did get launched out of the chair numerous times by Mr Nelly and his shocking driving, we figured it out after a day though and no futher injuries were sustained.

Can use for your normal straightening exercises but also great for ensuring your calf muscle doesn't "shorten". The remaining problems I have now are all related to lack of flexibility, particularly where calf muscle attaches above the knee. Stiffness there is still resulting in what I would call poor joint quality where takes extra effort to straighten. Would say am now 85% back to normal (has been 13 months post op) and had I started using this before would be 100% now. Am guessing you are still stuck to exercise bike for now, remember to keep changing the seat height to challenge the knee even if it means you cannot do full circle.

Thanks Ranchero, I'll have a look into that. My ROM isn't bad for 5 weeks post op (-7 straight and about 120 bent), it's still very stiff and I've started on the bike, got a looong way to go!

Sleeps til skiing, not sure. Not booking anything until I'm given the all clear by the physio/consultant but am hoping to get a week in late season. So basically, ages.

Physio is VERY boring, I have to get in the right frame of mind to basically hurt myself. I know it's doing me good, but OMG, it's painful. No pain, no gain etc blah blah.

Anyway, Glastonbury was excellent, I survived, in fact as I did a fair bit of walking (more than I've done in the last 4 months in total), my leg feels pretty good and much stronger, so I'm quite pleased about that.

6 week check up with consultant next week, hopefully he will agree with me.
