All I want to make me is happy is to see the Northern Lights next week in Lapland. Did,nt get to see them last year and so badly want to this year.

I do hope I'm not the bearer of bad news, but this site seems to think that activity is pretty low atmo

Far Queue...This is a happy thread, please do not bear bad news!

I am doing the dance around the coffee table thing for you Rose, I hope Nelly and eljay are too, as it worked so well for getting snow!

Snowb4ndit - I wouldn't be at all suprised if the schools arrange another round of interviews due to lack of candidates able to make it through the severe weather conditions. surely they'd be shooting themselves in the foot otherwise.

Any news on whether the skis and luggage made it to ADH?

Had text from Tony this morning saying they had half a meter of snow over night. Yesterday he said they had everything they needed to ski apart from Mrs H's salopettes. We were already at the airport at that point so too late to lend her mine. I presume they are skiing today and I'm sure they will be having a fab time on that powder!

:D It looks like a mushroom!

Here is a photo of some parked cars in a town where we stopped to put on snow chains. This was before we started our accent to ADH! It also show's why Grenoble airport had to close that day.

I've only just seen this thread, PSC I'm so sorry to hear about your foot, but also glad that it's on the mend and going to be OK for your ski holiday.

It's snowing here again Sami...More airport closures, where are you flying to?
What would you do?

Sorry to hear about the ankle problem but I'm glad you had a good time despite that.

I take a supply of ibuprofen, but that's really for any general aches and pains. My hubby broke his collar bone a couple of years ago and spent three days watching TV and reading, he was also able to struggle to the local bars! I 'had' to spend the rest of the week skiing with three 19 year old lads from Bristol

Snowbandit,
I think that's a very sensible decision. There are several main roads here shut now because of the new snow and drifting of the old snow(even to tractors and 4X4's), and they are saying that anywhere here over 200 metres is likely to be hit by heavy snow and blizzards all night until tomorrow morning. Driving to Somerset at the moment doesn't seem to be a very good idea!

And I expect you could do with a good rest :D

Take care :D

Ally, it's looking very much like I made the right decision. Lot's of reports of stranded motorists in the South West. IMO the schools made the wrong decision in not postponing the interviews.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked out of the window this morning to see a fresh blanket of snow. In SE London we didn't see that coming! Today I can enjoy it and don't need to worry about flights or interviews!
