I enjoyed it until the crash and X-Ray...Liked it that you were smiling at the very end though
Suprised at Tony (Mr Bobble) who I know is very well informed about skiing injury statistics. Over the last three seasons I've seen many, many people doing that kind of stuff in the parks and very, very few 'breakages' or injuries even. Of course there's a risk but it's certainly not inevitable. There seems to have a been more injuries this year for some reason, I know of about 6 or 7, but most of those were done off piste. I know people who think that breaking something is inevitable if you go on a skiing holiday! |

Wrong! I know many, many people who only had friends helping them from the beginning and are amazing skiers now after a ski season. The more you practice the more you tend to do what 'feels natural/comfortable' When it feels like that it is usually good technique. I will also say that I know people who have had lessons/not had lessons who have done a season and are still not able to tackle the whole mountain with confidence and ease. A lot depends on how much the person is prepared to push themselves, and take risks. I agree with oldAndy, skiing with more experienced skiers makes a huge difference. For a start you have to keep up/tackle what they tackle, secondly they are good role models and they know where they are going and more importantly where not to go. After many years of one/two or three separate weeks skiing per year I thought I was a competent skier - I was Wrong!!! Because I didn't feel like I feel now after two seasons. It's second nature now, I just do it, it's like driving. You can have many many weekly lessons and eventually pass the test, but it is the 'continued' experience that makes all the difference. |

Good to hear you've sorted you're lift pass!
If you are going to hire equipment, wait till you get there and have a good look around at the rental equipment on offer first. There was some pretty awful (old, poor quality and worn out)stuff being hired out when we were there. That was a while ago now so they may have all upgraded their gear. |

I love a good mogul field, and will seek them out like Verbier-ski-bum says. I love the challenge but I also like to feel like I've done a bit of exersize at the end of a ski day.
I don't tend to analyse what I do and how I ski, sometimes I go around them, some times I go over them but mostly I tend to tackle them in the way that Verbier-s-b explains. |
