im back from my holiday. i had a fantastic time. the village and the resort are briliant.managed to reach 2140m and did blue and red runs. the hotel was fabulus. the only downside of the trip was some locals who did not speak a word english. this is very irritating especially if you consider that it is an area full of turist. definitly going back next year

ak0s88,
were you joking about foreigners!??

You do get that with a foreign country....

Glad you liked the area though.

Have you ever considered Samoens?
Great little village, snow sure ski area with great skiing, an hour from Geneva.

Done a couple of short breaks there and both been successful.

Neige et Roc is a nice Hotel, the bus stops very close by.

Well, we went, she skied with a wrist support and was fine.
Just a bit of pain when she had to pole, but all in all - fine.

Thanks for the messages which I didn't have time to respond to before we went.
I took heed of them - including not wrapping her in cotton wool.
Certainly not something I could ever be accused of!

Came back from France over the weekend...and we got stopped by the Gendarmes...and we got asked for our log book. It was just a routine stop, but we were relieved to have all the paperwork.
So, thanks J2!
(I know the info's available on motoring websites, but this one is much more interesting!)

Tony_H wrote:Good news its not broken, but a sprain is a fob off excuse by the hospital for another kid of injury that they usually cant be bothered to diagnose or treat. It could be a partial dislocation or a ligament tear or strain, either of which can be very painful and requiring physio to correct.
Every time she bends or turns that wrist its going to be agony, especially if she goes over on it for instance.
I'd be getting an urgent appointment with a private physio tonight if it were me to properly assess the injury and take advice, as she may damage it further skiing next week.
I dont want to sound like doom and gloom, but surely her welfare is the big issue here?

You're right, her welfare is the issue. Not my selfish desire to ski once this season!!!

I'm still thinking.....

Thanks everyone, I am in a dilemma.
She is clearly in pain, but of course I don't know how quickly it will heal.
Nurses were aware she going skiing and said she will know her limits.
She is not a beginner, so falling is less of a problem in she can stay on her feet!

My Mum is a possibility, she has to stay home anyway as her (71 year old) partner came off a lift in La Plagne last week and broke his ankle.
He's in for an op tomorrow

I think a wrist guard is something to think about.
I'll see how she is tomorrow.
It was so close to a break that a 2nd opinion was given at the larger casualty.

Oh Damn. Damn. Damn.

My husband is, as I type, sat in the casualty department of our local A&E with our 13 year old daughter waiting for her to have an x ray to see if she has broken her wrist.... :(

We're due to go skiing on SATURDAY NIGHT.

Luckily only a small hospital, as I doubt even if not broken, she'd be out by Saturday.

So fingers crossed for a sprain.
