Hello,
Been to Samoens twice at Easter. Always been fantastic conditions (especially at Flaine).

Queues not too bad. Village nice and warm to come down off mountain to. We had lots of fresh snow driving over to Flaine through Les Carroz in 2006.

This year with the excellent snow conditions I reckon it should be fine. (Though of course I am no weather expert!)
Samoens in the GM is nice. We've done a few short breaks there.
9.40 arrival in Geneva, can be on the slopes by 12.30 if you're lucky.

We stayed in Les Terrasses, (sc apartment or chalet available) last time. It's a 5 mins walk to both the Gondola and village centre.
V successful.

Links are fine, people say slow, but as long as the queues aren't bad you can be over in Flaine in 45 mins or so.

I'm sure both Les Carroz and Morillon would be just as good.

Good luck.

Hi,
It's easy to get from Les Carroz to Flaine. How long it takes depends on how good a skier you are of course.
It should only take you 40 mins tops I'd say, as long as the slopes and lifts aren't too busy. and you keep a steady pace. Bear in mind tho that you have to catch a gondola out of Les Carroz and that might be busy.
Coming back is easy too, allow a least the same amount of time but bear in mind you won't be the only ones going that way, so could get busy.
The lift out of Flaine is a nice 8 man chair.

The pistes are well signposted. I love the Grand Massif. Enjoy.

Cried laughing! I've sent this to all ski buds. Sort of thing you want to share.
Reminded me of my inexperienced and slightly naive brother.
I went up a chairlift to some easy blues with him on the 2nd day of our holiday. (His instructor had only taken him on the drags at this point)
When I put the bar down - He said 'Oh, bl**dy hell, there's a bar is there? I thought it was a bit dangerous yesterday when I went up, was hoping I wouldn't fall!'

Hi,
Have the above boot for sale. Worn only for 1 week, then my daughter grew (as they do) and gave up dry slope racing.
They are size 23 - uk 4, but I think that they'd be a bit tight on the average size 4 foot. They have a tight cuff.

Adapted to kids' weight & size. Equipped with junior Thermic Fit liner for a good feeling and a stable construction with Spaceframe technology, this soft flexing boot provides the budding youngsters with all they need for progressing. 4 vario buckles for a good foot hold and all day comfort and performance.

I have looked on the net at these boots and for some reason the ones I have do not have a power strap? I do not know why. They are boxed, I bought them direct from salomon in Feb07, they cost me £79.95

We are based in Gloucestershire if anyone interested in having a look. Also, can post some photos if interested. (I'll have to get some help with that bit)

Ok, will do. You are right tho, I am sure it gets easier the better an all round skier you become.

Tony H says it looks dull - tho I can't see where that post has gone. :?

Anyway, does anyone else suffer from terrible disorientation in poor visibility? It must be very common. Would it be vertigo?
I feel sick and dizzy. I sit back on my heels and turn into a complete numpty. I'm not the best to start with, but on a very 'dull' day I forget all I ever knew.

I don't know how old you are of course, but I liked this quote i found on the web

Snowboarding is an activity that is very popular with people who do not feel that regular skiing is lethal enough.... I now realize that the small hills you see on ski slopes are formed around the bodies of forty-seven-year-olds who tried to learn snowboarding
