Lovely place in winter to. Quite pricey tho if i remember, though the more outlying stations linked to it are considerably cheaper... if my memory serves me right. It was about 6 years ago now that i was there.

Hy Anne,

I'd be really interested to hear how you got on camping there. We've seen the site from the ski lift every year for the last 5 years and have always wondered about staying there... and since our new motorhome is fully winterised we are considering it for 2013/14 season as the Dolomites are one of our 2 favourite ski areas.

If you look like you may be forces you can often get a discount then - my mate and i did in most places (and without asking - that was back about 6 years ago) and we had some rather jolly drinking times with a Nimrod crew along the way to.

My mate goes every year and loves the place. Despite some erratic snowfall in recent years.
The goat stahl is legendary I am told.
The bars will be very busy with heavy drinking forces people which could be brilliant or awful depending on what you like from your nights out ;-)

Cheeky schnapps or two at the top of main Bernkogel lift then blast down just as they close the piste for grooming is always fun.

:D

I'll be there for a day or two at end january, maybe see you on the piste (or in the bars).

Like an Apres bar which is busy but not necessarily mobbed with live music any suggestions? Just trying to work out beer voucher supply, we have been fortunate in Soll the last 3 years to be paying E3.20 to E 3.80 for a large beer, appreciate it will be dearer in Saalbach but hope we are not talking silly prices!!

Fairly easy walk to City Express gondola if you are staying in main town - and their are lockers for rent in from the Intersport shop underneath it if you don't want to carry kit every day.

Would have thought you you probably want to look to Kaprun glacier if your thinking of April, I have been to Zell in the last week in March and even tho it had been a good season snow depth wise at the end of the day it is a fairly low resort and the runs - espcially on the Sonnalm side were getting very unpleasant as the day went on.

Lovely place to go though, we have been at least once every season for last 6 years -nuff said.
Let's get this season started!

Just back from a couple of days skiing in Kaprun - quite a shock to see all the other mountains pretty well completely green on Wednesday.

BUT by the time it came to drive back to Munich on Friday it was obvious that most places I went through had got the snow cannons on laying down the base as disjointed white trails were starting to appear snaking downhill at various places.

Fingers crossed the real stuff finally arrives this weekend to help them along.

Or if easy greens, nice mountian views - but not quite the Alpine vilage charm go for ADH - superb for mixed ability groups and at 2000m pretty snow sure. they even have a cow that gives out chocolate on the purple (or is that lilac)run.
BKK worked for us 2 years ago when we went with a mixed group of near beginners and intermediates.

Just not always so easy to get to in the UK marketplace.
