Normal group of mature skiers going for a week in January 2013. Group ranges from Very good intermediates to advanced standard British level skiers. Done Schladming and Soll for the past 8 years so were looking for a change. After good skiing but our adrenalin black runs days are behind us, and lively apres.
Staying at the Hotel Sports Berger. Any tips on runs, decent bars and good value ski hire shops well appreciated.

"Very good intermediates to advanced standard British level skiers."

Are you going to suggest a new scheme for ranking British skiers :-).

Saalbach is one of my favourite resorts. Schattberg (sp) is a good one, in fact almost all of the runs are good.

Bars, dunno - I'm usually too pissed to remember the names.

Thanks for that. I know alot of British skiers who think they are advanced but are just very good in comparison to others that ski one or two weeks a year. Very few do I know or have I seen that ski hard black runs properly. They tend to survive them. I have been skiing for years and there is little I will not take on but I know my place! Very good intermediate sets the tone. But I love it. :-)

From my research so far, ski hire is well expensive in Saalbach, over double what we have paid in recent years in Soll.
Im sure we'll sort a deal somewhere.

You could try ski hire from resorts that neighbour Saalbach - may be cheaper? Such as Viehhofen - 4 km from Saalbach on the ski bus or post bus?
Hope you have a lovely time..
