Hi,
We have taken our motorhome every year for a skiing/boarding holiday to France, Austria and Switzerland, but never Italy. Does anybody know of a good campsite to take a large motorhome that has good access to the slopes?
Thanks

Hi Anne,
There is a motorhome/caravan site which sits pretty much underneath the lift between Corvara and Colfosco. No idea who you would contact to find out more but I guess the tourist board for one of the resorts? Location wise would be ideal as it's directly on the Sella Ronda circuit so easy access to Selva and Arabba and that's not counting the great skiing on your doorstep.
Good luck :D

Hi Lynn,
Thank you so much for replying to my message. I've located the campsite on Google Earth, it's called Camping Colfosco and it's website looks very promising. The reason we like to have good access to the slopes is because we take our two little dogs with us and don't like to leave them for too long and some of these sites are miles away from the slopes. Did you find it a nice area with good skiing?
Kind Regards,
Anne

Hi Anne,
The Dolomites is my favourite ski area - I have been 3 times already and am returning for a fortnight in January.
We stay in Arabba but have skied a lot in the Corvara/Colfosco area. There are some great runs from easy blues, great reds through the trees (Red 13 down to La Villa is one of my favourites) to the Gran Risa and Sasslong World Cup blacks if you like more of a challenge. It takes less than 30 minutes to get to Arabba and probably about the same to Selva (Dantercepies runs into Selva, red or black, are also some of my favourites). You could easily ski one area in the morning, go and let the dogs out for lunch and ski another in the afternoon. There also seem to be some nice footpaths through the trees, ideal for dog walking.
The scenery is amazing, the food delicious and with 1200 km of pistes you will never get bored. You can probably tell I love the place - nowhere else I've skied comes close! :D
I've put some pictures up from previous trips, I think in the 'Italy' part of the forum, probably under the heading of Arabba or something like that.
Any other questions I'd be happy to help if I can.

I can't thank you enough Lynn for all your help and the great information you have supplied to me, this is definately where we will be heading this winter. I never visit forums it's just that when I got an email from J2SKI this morning that I thought that I might as well post a message and see what would become of it. I never for one moment thought that I would get an answer let alone such a valued one. Thank you again so very much for all you help.
Kindest Regards,
Anne

Hy Anne,
I'd be really interested to hear how you got on camping there. We've seen the site from the ski lift every year for the last 5 years and have always wondered about staying there... and since our new motorhome is fully winterised we are considering it for 2013/14 season as the Dolomites are one of our 2 favourite ski areas.

Hi,
We definately want to go here as the area looks great, and after reading a review on the website 'Where to Ski and Snowboard' we know it's just how we like it. The Campingcolfosco website states at the bottom of its' price list that they don't accept reservations from campers (motorhomes) meaning you just turn up. I have sent them an email because it'a a long drive there to find out that they're full up! We would be happier paying up front and knowing that we have a pitch reserved. I'm waiting to hear back.

Hi I was in Arraba for half term the last two years and travelled over this campsite on the lift, it was always a busy campsite but never completely full, I would not like the idea of not being able to pre book a berth, always in the back of my mind what do I do if its full, maybe I'm to risk adverse.
Would be a great location and base to explore the dolomites.
