Did a day trip to the area from Tonale a few years ago and I've been kean to go again. The minor linked resorts reminded me of 60/70's French ski stations on a smaller scale, but with far frendlier people. We enjoyed a fantastic days skiing on hugely varied runs. Been on my list to re-visit since, just never made it yet. If you go look forwrad to hearing how you got on.
Rustyinn P.S. seem to recall there was a self service restuarant near the Monte Spinale peak - worst (and most overpriced) meal ever in Italy - AVOID!!!! We did have some fantastic apres tho while waiting for the bus back to Tonale in an Orish bar at the bottom of the base station gondola just wish i coul remember which base station ..... the perils of getting old, the memory goes. I've a feeling it was Mireleva as that would be closest to Tonale.... I think. |

Alpe D'Huez defiently - we did a few trips there in our early days with similar abilities/ages in the group.
My youngest is currently trying to perusade me we should go back when her school is there in late February 2012. Something for everyone and accommodation on or near the slopes. Dave

Yeah - Stansted for me is a pain, as is the fact it's a Saturday as that's my busy time.
Otherwise though it looks good - and definetly shows it is easily practical to do.

Zell am See is a lovely place - have been at least once a year for the last 6 years and you have the Kaprun glacier on hand in case it's a really bad year - but have only ever used it through choice not because of lack of snow in Zell.
Over that time I've also skied in other Austrian and quite a few French and Italian resorts, but still make a point of getting back to Zell. I'll be in Kaprun in November for early season warm up and then Zell in late Feb early March. Dave |

Or Alpe d'Huez ? Landing charges might be less there.
Could barely afford a burger and cola at Courcheval Altiport!

I love the flexibility of DIY if going solo or with a few like minded souls (except at very peak periods) BUT if I am organizing a groupor family i will generally go with a T/O for the realative peace of mind that 'they' have to sort out any hiccups !
