Where to go for guaranteed snow

Unfortunately no such thing as guaranteed snow but some resorts have a better record than others, you could check out La Rosiere, it's high at 1850 metres and it's south facing so it's sunnier than other resorts in the Haute Tarentaise. Because of it's proximity to Mont Blanc we have very localised weather so it's consistently in the top 5 French resorts for snow cover. The where to Ski and Snowboard guide for 2008 says it's "The sunniest resort in the Tarentasie but also the snowiest".
I was skiing in La Rosiere 1850 (5kms away) last week and snow conditions were terrific we had 3 days of fresh snow. The sorms were pretty much across the entire French Alps so Ste Foy should have had similar conditions. Only downside was that temps rose later in the week and damaged a couple of the low lying runs. As to conditions in Ste Foy, I wouldn't know I haven't skiied there since the village was overun by development.

Jobster, have you thought about La Rosiere, one of the most snowsure resorts in the Alps and we have availability for your group in that week. Have alook at out website www.trcaksvacations.com or see our ad in the resorts section.
It seems as if everyone believes that every Alpine resort hasn't had any snow this season, OK there isn't as much as usual but there's still 140 cms at altitude and 67 cms at village level and none of our guests have lost any skiing through lack of snow cover. The end result though, is that we've got spaces when we'd normally be full, so we have a couple of incentives for next week, a free six day Espace San Bernardo lift pass for every single adult booking or free kids places for a family booking. Check out our website www.tracksvacations.com you'll see what a bargain this is, you'll also be able to link to the La Rosiere web-cams and see just how much snow we've got.

Anyone been to Pila?

Aosta is a useful place to stay because it gives you access to Courmayer and La Thuile as well as Pila. Like all valley towns you'll have to drive to get to the snow. If you want to ski Italy but from a resort try La Rosiere in France, it's linked to La Thuile, it's very snow-sure none of our guests this year have lost a day's skiing through lack of cover and we still have some availability for February dates.
