I just got back from ADH last week and what you would expect to be groomed was groomed. I personally wouldn't expect a black to be groomed because its labelled as a black, don't want to make it to easy. Although by 11am there were moguls all over the place and it was a nightmare. I found it slightly better away from the motorway runs but still some of the worst I have experienced.

After the last few years in French resorts I'm thinking of a trip out east. I would love to ski Japan but the resorts seem a little on the small side. Plus it would be one hell of a pricy holiday.

And your full weight extreme condition and thermals in you luggage I hope.

Alpe D'Huez - Monday pm @ alt 2225m = -10C, -16C with wind chill

The spring jacket will be going under the winter jacket, coupled with a thermal base layer. Should be more then enough. TBH i have never really suffered from the cold even in the low negatives.

I would reccomend Alpe D'Huez as the immediate area arround the village has some fantastic runs for beginners. If they want the alpine look the Os en Oisans feeds in to the same ski area and is really nice (No cars allowed typical village).

But as Dave said Andorra is know for catering towards the beginner with easy runs etc.
