I think I would agree with Serre Chevalier being really good value for money in terms of ski area and reasonable prices both on and off the mountain. Have stayed in Chantemerle and Villeneuve but favourite is Monetier.

Not sure about percentages, but I seem to remember some fantastic tree lined runs in the Madonna/Folgarida/Marilleva area in the Dolomites.
Definitely agree re Serre Che and Schladming. |

I've got double vision )
I don't know if that gondola runs in the evening at all - let alone NYE (is what I meant) |

Would the Briancon gondola be running on NYE? We really enjoyed the food at the chalet style restaurant at the mid station.

We have just booked another ski trip! Following Betty/Caron's glowing recommendation last season and our fantastic bargain trip to Hochgurgl, we are now off to Obergurgl in January. Looking forward to the apres ski on the way back to resort :D
Any other resort recommendations you would like to share? |

If you are all beginners, the blue run back into Lech is quite daunting and in the March that we went, was like sugar in the afternoon. There is a gondola from Lech to Oberlech which I seem to remember runs until after midnight. Once everyone comes off the slopes, there is some great apres ski either with music at the Krone bar or live music at the outside bar of a couple of the hotels. Lots of singing along and dancing in ski boots etc.
