Going skiiing in March 2011. Beginners, family with teens. Friends have recommended Oberlech rather than Lech for that time of year (slushy return to hotel in afternoon)and generally for family skiing. My travel agent is trying to persuade me that Lech is a better option: more to do for the kids.
Help! any comments?

If you are all beginners, the blue run back into Lech is quite daunting and in the March that we went, was like sugar in the afternoon. There is a gondola from Lech to Oberlech which I seem to remember runs until after midnight. Once everyone comes off the slopes, there is some great apres ski either with music at the Krone bar or live music at the outside bar of a couple of the hotels. Lots of singing along and dancing in ski boots etc.

Depends largely on your date in March. Early to mid-March generally is good quality snow. The difference at village level is only about 200m. However, they share the same mountain levels. The whole area offers pleasant mountain skiing, and if you want a place to try some first time off piste skiing between runs, this is the area.
