Calgary from Heathrow-I hate heathrow it's a nightmare. I am so excited, we had snow here today and I couldnt stop staring. 5th time back to Banff so know the area and the Canadians very well!

Look at Heathrow as part of your adventure because as you indicate I found it quite the adventure as well. That's a long flight - I bet you will take it easy the first day or two.

You may as well take out dual citizenship after 5 visits and be done with it :!:

Enjoy your stay!!

Do you think we could hold our annual meeting at this place! Seems pleasant and can accept our non-smoking ways!

Do you think they have a "private" landing area for your Lear Jet?

Do they take "older senior skiers"?

But Pavel,

We were going to take the Bombardier Challenger, your son gave you for Christmas this year, for the meeting this time I thought. It will hold more than my Lear.

Not sure if the Atlantic Seniors Ski Club travels that far yet; but there is a "Ski 30" club in our area which has 72 members heading for Italy next week :!:

It would have been nice to go on that trip. Many of them were at Martock on the weekend preparing and getting the legs in shape for the trip.

Ross,

Do you land at Halifax or is your first stop in Toronto?

Are you leaving from Gatwick or Heathrow?

It is difficult to tell for sure, but are you even a tad excited? If not - you should be really excited.

Will this be your first trip to Canada or are you a seasoned traveller - the season being winter ...

If you don't land in Halifax and are going right on to Toronto or Montreal ... watch out the window when crossing Nova Scotia --- I'll be waving and wishing you a good trip.

Canadians are a friendly lot - well the ones east of Ontario at least :!:  However, the west is where you will find the deep snow.

Don't forget your passport! Have fun, eh?:!: :!:

I'm in complete (aka 100%) agreement with all above comments. Even France is taking up the smoking ban mentality :!:

Give me clean air or give me none :!:

Perhaps that's a tad rash.

Happy New Year to all...

Yes Dave, the trails at Ski Martock in Nova Scotia were busy for New Year's Day. My wife and I were there in time for the almost first chair and had the best January 1st skiing for the past few years. Conditions were exceptional. The snow was fast, the sun was strong, the winds were nil and the crowds didn't develop until about 11:00 am ... but how they developed then!!

Martcok is a small ski center; but a good one !!

10 minutes to the lift :!: :!: That must be really nice.

That's what I would like for Christmas :!:

I picked up some nice poles this morning ... maybe I should wrap them and try to forget about them for a couple of days. Also bought a "cool" pair of goggles for my wife. These won't be delivered in time so I'll wrap up a picture of them for her.

Ellistine - you still have a couple of days - don't panic :!:

No one can explain the weather patterns with certainty and in an understandable method.

As recently as October's long range forecasts, it was supposed to be a warmer than normal winter in Nova Scotia - now it is turning out to be the coldest December in at least 20 years - and the month is only half over.

The normal temperature for today is 2C and at the time of this writing it is -8C :!:

But the good news is that the local ski hills open tomorrow and Saturday for a new season :!:

God bless the cold air
