I wish to echo the "honorable" FQ's ((or is that "questionable" FQ's)) ...... nope .... it's honorable FQ's comment of thanks!! Win lose or draw I've learned about some new aspects of skiing equipment and its history. Therefore it is win - win for me. I still have a week to free myself from the sticky honey but I expect the answer to # 2 will arrive before I become free :( :( .
Thanks Pavel .... it has been interesting !! Mike -) |

If nothing else ..... the J2Ski followers will be always known as a knowledgeable bunch ! :D
The history of hills and equipment development is so interesting that when the day comes that I can no longer ski, I know my ski interest will remain strong and busy as there is always so much to read and learn. Whether or not my reply to question #6 remains valid or not, I did learn a lot about the location through a most interesting story. Yes tragedy, intrigue and dedication were all involved. It is all about the learning (when it can't be "all about the snow")!! And yes ... still stuck in the honey like a fly, on Question 2. Mr.W .... you have a lot of posts to check ! No idea for what I'm searching - even though a few things did look promising at one point. Mike -) |

My bet is on this location and date (blanked out - of course) to which Pavel refers. The others you mention were in some cases, combined FIS events. The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships ........................................................................ To this day, it remains as the only alpine world championship contested in the ...................... It took place well out of the established season, nearly five months before the first World Cup season, which began in early January ............. Mike -) |

Funny thing about the location of this event. Some friends and I have a deal of going there. Which ever of us "win" a lottery, these winnings will take us for some great skiing!!

So true Pavel ! :D
Knowing your quizzes I realize that the clues are very clear. My frustration brings amazement to the others, no doubt. My "stars" as you put it are of people and places not connected to the UK. Places like MSA, Tremblant, Sun Peaks, Martock and Wentworth. All in a different region. And on the people front my "stars" would be people like Nancy Greene, Mike Douglas, Ken Read. But combine the greatest "star" such as "S.G." and some "on-the-snow" time at Sunday River and you have an experience that will never be forgotten. (Speaking from Experience - of course!) Now, my tenacious nature is awake and on the search again... Mike -) |

Honorable Mr. F.Q. - part of the Pavel Quizzes is the slap to the forehead when the answer is given ! I have several dents in my forehead from answer reading days of past Pavel Quizzes !  I do have a couple of ideas for a reply but in need of many more than 20 seconds to check. Have you seen all the posts Ian has made !!! Lots of reading to go ! Mike -) |
