Hi All,
We open our family home (in Niederau, Tirol, Austria) to other families during the winter and summer seasons on a self catering basis.
We have 10 apartments which sleep between 2 and 6 giving a total occupancy of about 40 guests.
We believe that there is a section of the ski market that is attracted by the opportunity to live in a non-smoking environment.
The question I would like to ask is, “Are we right?”
So please vote and let us know if a non-smoking environment is attractive or not?
Best wishes,
The Auhof

I voted the last one because i liked it as a response however i understand it will be no use to you. I hate smoking and would be put off by anywhere where i thought someone had been smoking in a room previous to me staying there.

Yes - part of the attraction of the mountains is crisp, clean air... :D

When I travel, I insist the have rooms with "non_smoking" conditions! If one person smokes in the room I can detect it! I go to another hotel!
Skiers like fresh air and health! It has become a social no no to even suggest to smoke at parties, at meetings and never but never in sports activities!
Keep insisting for non smoking!
Both mother-in-law and father died of smoking! They were the generation that "believed" that smoking was "chic"! Once you see them died in your home,,,,,,,,,!
Let us be honest, it is not cool to smoke! It is an addiction,,period!

I never want to stay in an hotel or apartment that has had previous smokers, and so look for non-smoking places. The sooner Europe follows Scotland and latterly England in introducing non-smoking in public places, the better.
Wunderbar!
Yes it would be good to go no-smoking, but also. make sure that you tell people. Good luck.

sorry Jan, I also chose the last option, mainly due to the hangover though 8) hence the dark glasses. As an ex smoker (4 years this May) I have to say that the it's the smell of stale smoke that puts me off, I have always insisted upon no smoking as the wife didn't smoke, but even whilst I was smoking, the stale smell I found repulsive.
So YES, a non-smoking establishment would attract me more than a smoking one, I'd hazard a guess that most Brits would now say the same, besides, you can always lean out the window if you're desperate :!: :!:

I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

I`m from Dublin and we have had a smoking ban for the last 3 or 4 years and it really works. Its the only thing that the Irish government have got right!
I was in Alpe d`Huez just before christmas and you really notice the smell of stale smoke on your clothes the next day.The sooner that the ski resorts ban smoking in bars and resturants the better.
Rant over....Happy new year :)
