Have you tried Intersport? There are quite a few of their shops in Zell Am See and they are really helpful. And they have wished me a Happy Birthday today-what more can you say:-)

On the same subject what happened to Iceghost? And also did samiglasgow sort out everything? I am obviously very nosy but when people do many posts and then stop- well I must have way too much free time!!

At 2000m I got a burst blood vessel in one eye! Looked really glamorous- not!! Took about a week to look normal again but never happened since!

Thanks Alistair. I have had a look at the piste map and like the way the gondola links the two resorts. I will hopefully be able to ski, but doing 4hour ski school as I used to, well it is not happening! I just want to cover all bases so if I am well, then good, but likewise if I am poorly, I can still satisfy this mad ski craze within! Do you have firsthand experience of the resort- I am wondering which would be the easiest hotel for me to stay in?

Thanks Ally! I am doing good now but get very tired. It is important for me to be part of the holiday -even if I am stuck in my room! I really like the sound of Obergurgl but does it get a bit nippy in winter? Does it make more sense to go there say early March instead? I have persuaded my husband that skiing is a brilliant idea and I want to strike when the irons hot! I think they call it henpecked!

Nightlife? You'll have to remind me what that is! I am fast asleep by 8pm!!!!

Thanks Daved- will check it out. I have checked the flight times from Newcastle and if I fly into Innsbruck I wouldn't be able to collect my ski gear until the following day. But flying via Salzburg means a ridiculously early start but you are in resort by lunchtime. A bit shallow but I have to make life easy! I know very little about Obertauern- has anybody experience of the resort??

I am also beginning to look at Switzerland so if I can open the same topic for there in the Austria forum? The ski school hours are much shorter so makes more sense really. But I need a relatively short transfer by coach to resort. Me- finickety! Nooooo!!!

That's funny Bandit- the things you have to think about! I will buy one over the next couple of days and get working on that core! Happy days!

I was just trying to sit on it! Any movements at all resulted in unsteadiness in the extreme. I hope there were no hidden cameras! But practice makes perfect and it is a good start to get the right sized ball for my height (5ft 3in). I never knew it would be so complicated!
