Looking at the piste map, this looks as though it should be a great place for her to gain confidence - shouldn't be too busy either? Hope you both enjoy yourselves anyway )

Thank you - makes more sense for the name of a piste and a restaurant!

Are we talking about ballroom dancing here? |

You may have to make your own bobbles with wool and two cardboard circles!

We have skied in Lech/St. Anton for the pre-Christmas week 3 out of the last 4 years and lack of snow has never been a problem!

If it doesn't have to be Austria, take a look at Monetier, which is one of the villages of the Serre Chevalier ski area. There is a superb spa/pool/wellness complex there.

We absolutely love Folgarida but you might find it a bit quiet in terms of nightlife. Flight was into Verona and I think the transfer was just over 2 hours. ( We have also stayed in Madonna itself, which is more upmarket and has much more going on than Folgarida, but also cost us more!)
We have been with mixed groups of skiers, boarders and total beginners and everyone had a great time. The beginners made quick progress with the ski school and were able to ski the lovely long blue back into the village by the end of day 2 or so and were also joining us on some of the reds. Some good mountain restaurants and good value. The link on skis from Folgarida to Madonna is via red runs which can be tricky for those lacking confidence, but there is a bus link also. There is a fun park in Marilleva. |

Having bought snowboarding son a helmet and all sorts of body armour plating last Christmas, we decided it was probably sensible to get ourselves helmets too - although we have always liked skiing without even a hat if the weather permits.
OH found one that suited him for about £30, whereas son's girlfriend and I both went for K2's for about £80 (but got a discount as we were buying two). Mine feels so comfortable to wear - not too warm but just cosy - that I now can't imagine skiing without it. It also solves that (perhaps only for us girls) problem of which and how many hats to pack. Within a couple of minutes of being out on the slopes, someone knocked over my son's girlfriend on her board and she landed with an almighty bang on her head. I duly spoke to the knocker-over in my best abusive colloquial French! |
