If you do go on your own, try one of the TO's who offer ski hosting (Ski Miquel perhaps) and then you have a ready made social group to ski with.

To keep the suitcase weight down, how about taking a load of feathers and going as Eddie the Eagle.

We have stayed in Madonna during the Hapsburg Festival which I think was the first week of March so we had a torchlit descent by various people in various costumes including crinolines for the ladies! This was followed by a fantastic firework display. I can't actually remember any live entertainment as we came off the slopes but we enjoyed sitting outside the Swiss Bar watching the world go by - I think the Italians call it passagieri? - a few ladies in fur coats with matching little dogs tucked under their arms :D
We really do like that area of the Dolomites though, especially Folgarida and Marilleva which are liked to Madonna.

What time of year are you going? We have been in the pre-Christmas week and first week of March. The live music in the main street as you come off the slopes goes on for longer the later in the season it seems - but I don't think there is actually any 'clubbing' as such - you will need St. Anton for that I think.
Obergurgl any tips

Make sure you go to the Top Mountain Star at the top of Wurmkogl II lift as the view is breathtaking. The other must-do is the afternoon apres-ski in the Nederhutte.
One of my favourite runs is Red 25 from Hochgurgl down to Pill.

A word of caution would be the Kirchenkarlift drag in Hochgurgl which is long and unpleasant - my son-in-law who is very tall suffered dreadful leg cramps once he reached the top and the rest of us were very relieved once we got off it!

The whole area is great though and everyone is very friendly. There is a ski bus and a gondola link between Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, and you might want to add a day's skiing in Solden for more skiing though.
I was checking the webcams earlier today and there appeared to be people skiing down to the top of Hochgurglbahn 1 and the snow cannons are on. It also looked as though the blue past the Nederhutte down into Obergurgl might be skiable?
So will TO's have to bus people to resorts where skiing is possible, or will they try to offer alternative resorts altogether? (Or will they just say TOUGH!!!)

By the way I don't feel in any way smug - just relieved - that as last minute bookers who usually go before Christmas, we haven't actually booked anything yet. I really feel for those of you who have to take time off work and for whom this is the one and only chance to ski this season and booked some time ago.
