Hello everyone, I just signed up on the forum, and I have a question to ask you.

I am going to St. Anton in Austria in the period December 18th-27th with 6 of my friends. What is your experience with skiiing during christmas? It was very cheap, and we are getting our own apartment with 8 days ski pass.

I hope you have some good things to say about it.

You'll have a great time !!
Lots of early season vibe, xmas extras and you will have snow and good skiing (unless this season is an absolute disaster!)
By the time you are going 2/3 of the resort at least should be open, maybe more.
It might be cold, it might not - but the days will be short and getting dark by 4.00pm, so early starts are in order.
I love early season skiing, locals, staff, everyone has the freshness that gets jaded by the end of the season when people are a bit tired and getting fed up - in my experience anyway.

As it's St Anton, expect the resort to be looking very festive :D Should be lots to see and do off the slopes. If St Anton is like most other European resorts, by day some folks will be skiing in fancy dress )

That all sounds so nice. You're getting me even more excited. :D

Does it still close at the same time in the afternoon? (4-5pm as far as I remember), or is it earlier?

I've been to St Anton at Christmas and it was everything I dreamed of. The skiiing was fabulous, the town was busy and festive indoors, but quiet and picturesque outdoors. In fact you have to look very carefully to find the numerous bars and restaurants...When you do enter any of them you will be suprised at the revelry behind what just appear to be sedate looking chalet fronts.

There were quite a few people in fancy dress and all in all a very festive atmosphere.

We had a brilliant time and will definitely be going back one day.
