The reason I started skiing 13 years ago was in order to get away for Xmas, and we've done it twice since which whilst I liked the festive decorations in the towns and the things going on like torchlight skiing displays, it really didnt feel like we had Christmas to be honest.
Spending a couple of hours on Xmas day one year whilst the woman who ran into me was helicoptered off the mountain wasn'y much fun, particularly for her I would have thought.

I'd like to go the week BEFORE Xmas to really sample the build up and atmosphere, but my OH isn't able to get time off. It would save a lot of money as well, as funnily enough prices double Xmas and NY week.

Do you know how much snow there will be in December, compared to February?

We have skied in Lech/St. Anton for the pre-Christmas week 3 out of the last 4 years and lack of snow has never been a problem!

Austria is having a bad time at the moment with warm weather and little snow at present, but that will change. You'l have plenty to ski by then.
Compared with Feb there will be less snow, but less people will have skied it too.
Dont worry, and start planning your days out. Its a brilliant place to ski.
