nicky rees wrote:thanks for that!! what would you say a good price is for weeks snowboarding with boots& board lessons and ski pass and half board hotel or chalet!! the cheapest i can get itfor 2012 at the mo is about £850 soll austria! as there will be 6-10 of us i suppose it's highly unlikely we'll get a last minute deal fof that many!!

As many J2skiers say on here. If the numbers stack up BOOK IT!

Unless you want to leave it and risk not all staying together then the price you have seen above seems fair to me.

It definitely looks like it's going to snow next week in the French Alps :D

J2Ski says, for Courchevel, 2cm snow on Monday (14th), Tuesday and Wednesday and freezing down to 1300.

Ski Club of GB says pretty much the same thing, except they also give light rain (!) for Thursday with a freezing level of 1850 - so presumably this means snow above this - and windy (25) from the west.

Ally i sure hope that your right. Afterall i know first had that it needs it badly. It was the first time last week that i have ever seen instructors wearing helmets whilst teaching, thats how icy it was. When we skied the glacier at Thorens the col run was sheet ice from top to bottom. I know now why the lift was dead....
I've just returned from Val thoren on sat and can confirm the skiing is very hard packed everywhere. The snow there is about the best across the whole 3 valleys. We ventured over to meribel but quickly turned back because the snow was rubbish. There was hundreds of people being bused up from meribel valley as the snow there has gone. There is currently no snow forecast for at least the next week and who knows after that..... The snow thread on snowheads is being monitored very closely.... I'm sure there will be a big dump before march or at least I'm keeping everything crossed as were returning on the 26th march. Overall though hard conditions aside we had an amazing time and managed to catch some sun. My OH however also managed to catch flu and is now on tamiflu amongst other potions.... It proves after 4 weeks of no snow that the pisteurs do a fantastic job and I really do take my hat off to them...

Thats rubbish mate... such a shame. I hope you find something soon and have a great time. On a more positive note as least you can do as you please and only have yourself to cater for... see it as a positive and go exploring.

There are many routes down this area, some safer than others. But it is also an avalanche area so take care. The run ends up in Val Thorens ski area by the lac and then you have to ski back down the road or get various other lifts. Hope that helps.

From looking at the maps this is what i thought. TBH there is more than enough to explore in the 3 valleys without having to worry too much about going down this 1 unmarked route...

I probably underestimate my ability but i feel thats the best way. Im no expert (yet) so i think ill leave this run until i am :-)
