Hi Wanderer

http://www.francealacarte.com/ski_france.htm

this is a french booking agency based in Toulouse and I've always had good deals with them at half-term as they charge the local resort price not load it for school hols like the UK tour operators! Sylvie and Simon are fab they book the accomodation, lift passes and car hire and you just have to book some cheap flights.

Luckily I no longer have that problem so off to Val Cenis this Sat and have booked Flaine for next Jan, yippee!

The Ski Helmet Debate
Started by Admin in Ski Hardware, 491 Replies, discussing Tignes and Val Thorens
Haven't had time to read the whole thread so sorry if I'm repeating other posts.

I am of an age to remember riding motor bikes without a helmet and driving without a seatbelt, and complaining bitterly when the legislation was introduced - now I almost panic if I realise I have driven off without seatbelt buckled (I haven't quite managed to ride off without lid in place first!)

but...I ski without a helmet without a second thought, so bring on the legislation - as far as I am aware it's already illegal for children to ski or snowboard in Italy without wearing helmets.

When you initiate a turn you are transferring momentum. The force on the ski is a function of weight x the square of the velocity. Hence, the biggest element is your speed.

Is this a quadratic equation?

Doh!

thanks, that didn't occur to me as I didn't have a problem with my boots - having such delicate ladylike little trotters an' all

I'm pretty sure the boot rooms were heated in H and M last year.

In the ski lockers in the apartment building - I have to say in Montgenevre they were in the underground garage with no heating, do you think it could be the cold that was the problem?
Where? Haven't got a clue!!!

This late on I would have thought you'd get a better deal HB with one of the tour operators - I've always found Crystal overcharge on lift passes but Inghams and Neilson are pretty fair and I've always got as good as if not better price than in resort for the lift passes. I would recommend the MilkWay - Sauze D'Oulx, Sestriere, Claviere or Montgenevre.

It's not so much the doing it up although that was a bit difficult to start with, it was the actual struggle of getting the boots on that was the biggest problem. Can re-fitted help with that do you think?
